SKY RACING GOES DIGITAL!

Sky Racing will be upgrading its equipment over the next 12 months to broadcast channels in Digital format to its Retail Customers.

Why is Sky Racing Upgrading to Digital format?

• Between 2010 and 2013, the Australian Government will be switching off analogue free-to-air signals and replacing them with Digital-only signals. This is because :
• Picture and sound quality is better on digital and it improves your viewing experience
• Digital transmission provides viewers with enhanced program information, content control and interactive capabilities.
• The government will be able to reclaim spectrum inefficiently occupied by analogue Television for reallocation to more efficient digital content services.
• Manufacturers are phasing out production of analogue tuner TVs.
• Improves picture quality right through to the TV within venues
• Enables distribution of high definition signal
• Simplifies installations in venues, enabling all Sky services to be distributed through 1 decoder (rather than 1 for each service)
• Reduces congestion within Venue TV systems
• New services and Issues can be remotely managed, saving time and reducing the requirement for resources to be on-site
• Simplifies cabling and in-venue configuration

What are the benefits of Digital for my venue?

• Better viewing experience for customers (clear pictures and sound)
• Reduces the number of decoders and cabling required to show all the Sky services in your venue
• Issues and outages can be fixed over the phone or remotely
• New services can be activated immediately over the phone without the need for an installation on-site
• Access to more free-to-air digital channels through the digital televisions in your venue

What do I need to do to be Digital Ready?

• Ensure all TV’s are capable of receiving a digital signal. This can be done by either –
• Using Digital set top boxes for each analogue TV in your venue
• Upgrading your analogue TV’s to those with a digital tuner
